I was first introduced to TROPICS by way of Soundcloud a couple years back. At that time i was working as a music supervisor and looking for music that spoke to the projects we were working on.

Since then, London based Singer/Songwriter/Producer Chris Ward has continued to keep us captivated with his beautiful melodies and warm sounds. He has collaborated with artists such as Petite Noir and Gavin Turek, given us some lovely remixes for bands like Little Dragon and founded his own company called TOUCH LOOPS, where he and his team create original analog sample packs for purchase. His music has also been sampled by some of todays top hip hop producers.

I got to chat with and shoot Tropics a couple of weeks ago. We discussed life, career and our shared love of music. In many ways we share the same philosophy for music, quality over quantity. When creating it is better to cater to your authentic self and dive in to what feels like home instead of following what is ‘of the moment’.

His sound is refreshing and encompasses what SOMSIREN loves about the creative. A genuine take on self expression. We collaborated on a special playlist highlighting the work he is proud of and the music that inspires him and his craft.
